BUSINESS PLANNING IS FUN AGAIN

When you think of a business plan, you probably picture endless pages of text, graphs, and dull stats. You know, the kind of thing you’d nervously slide across a desk to a bank officer, hoping for a loan approval.

I don’t know about you, but piecing together that kind of stiff, formal business plan is not my idea of a good time. Luckily, I have better tools—and so do you!

The Business Plan That Isn’t

What if you could plan your business with fun, colorful photos and inspirational quotes instead? Imagine the boost to your daily motivation! That’s exactly what a vision board offers. By collecting images that represent your dreams and aspirations, you’ll have a constant reminder of where you’re headed and why you started your business in the first place.

Maybe you want to spend more time with your kids as they grow up, finally take that vacation to Europe, or buy that house in the country you’ve always dreamed of. Perhaps a sporty little red car has been calling your name. None of these things fit into a traditional business plan, but they’re perfect for your vision board. More importantly, they’re critical to your long-term success. Without your dreams, it’s nearly impossible to stay focused and on track, but with these visual reminders, staying motivated is a breeze!

Why Vision Boards Work

Does this all feel a bit too airy-fairy to you? You’re not alone. Many of us were raised to believe that business had to be all about numbers and stats, with no room for fun.

I completely disagree!

In fact, some of the most successful people in the world use vision boards to clarify their dreams and keep their goals front and center. That’s why vision boards work so well. They allow you to see exactly what you’re working toward, whether it’s a shiny new car, a big, beautiful home, or an exotic vacation.

By keeping visual reminders within sight, you’re constantly aware of your “why,” and that’s a powerful motivator, no matter what you’re working on. Of course, no banker will accept your vision board as proof of viability and give you a loan based on it. But when it comes to clarifying your dreams, pinpointing your real goals, and getting excited about your business again, you just can’t beat a personal, colourful vision board.

Adding a Personal Touch

Recently, I created vision boards for the TVL rebrand and the EA to VA course. These boards are bursting with vibrant images, quotes, and goals that reflect the exciting direction I’m taking with That Virtual Life. Every time I glance at these boards, I’m reminded of the high-end, luxurious feel we’re aiming for, and the incredible support we’re offering to help others transition from executive assistants to successful virtual assistants.

These vision boards are not just pretty pictures—they’re powerful tools that keep me focused on my mission and inspired to push forward. They represent not just the end goals, but the journey and the daily steps needed to get there.

Give it a try—you might just surprise yourself! Create a vision board for your business and watch how it transforms your approach and motivation. Business planning can be fun and inspiring—just like it should be!
